Our Parish

St. Mary's OSC, Pune, a very prominent parish of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church belongs to the diocese of Bombay. Pune, which is famous as the cultural capital of Maharashtra, Oxford of the East, Defence Head Quarters, Pensioner's Paradise, etc is flocked by thousands of people every year.

A congregation of Orthodox Christians came together in 1951 and as a culmination of everybody's efforts and prayers, St. Mary's OSC, Pune and St. Thomas OSC, Khadki were formed in 1973. At present we have 8 churches in various parts of Pune, but St. Mary's OSC, Pune remains the main centre church for many of the Orthodox Puneites. Our church maintains its culture and tradition by upholding all the spiritual values with systematic functioning and proper discipline.

Koinonia or fellowship is the motto of Christian life. Interactions and fellowships are very necessary in our busy life to make it more meaningful and successful. We bow before the cross, believing in our resurrected Lord. The cross symbolizes the relationship between God to man (top to bottom) and man to man (left to right). When we establish this relationship, then only, can we say that we truly believe in the cross. Church is the abode of our Lord. Participation in the living sacrifice of the Lord, thanksgiving and repentance must be out only focus when we come to church.
